Bartlesville’s Workforce Connection -

Our History:

Career Employment Service has been serving the Bartlesville area as a full-service employment agency since 1968. Since then, we have served hundreds of clients and adapted our services to meet the ever-changing requirements of employment regulation.

We are also members of the American Staffing Association and Society for Human Resource Management. Both organizations are highly regarded in the industry and maintain a strict code of ethics.

Our Founder: Carmen Stanton

Carmen Stanton is president of Career Employment Service, Inc., Carmen’s family moved to Bartlesville in 1956, where her father started a lumber business, and her mother opened a Christian bookstore. Taking a cue from her parents’ strong work ethic Carmen decided to start her own business. Her grandfather loaned her one thousand dollars to start her business. This was enough to purchase a telephone and secure her first office space in the 3700 mall. Carmen’s grandfather believed in her and what she was wanting to do. In his words Carmen had “moxie.” Carmen has been the backbone of Career for the past 56 years. Her hard work and determination are unmatched and what has made Career Employment Service what it is today.

Carmen knows that this would not have been possible if it was not for the support of the Bartlesville community. Carmen strongly believes it is our responsibility as a company to give back to this wonderful city who has given so much to Career Employment Service. During her career Carmen was one of the first female members of the Bartlesville Area Chamber of Commerce where she proudly served for many years. She was a huge supporter and highly active with the fundraising efforts for the Washington County American Red Cross as well as the Pilot Club. Carmen has served on numerous boards and has set the example for those that follow her as Career Employment Service continues to support local non-profit organizations in Bartlesville and the surrounding areas.

Carmen has made it her life’s work to build a company rooted deep in its community and who believes in the clients we serve.

The processes he has set forth to guide and streamline the hiring processes for both employees and the business clients Career Employment serve prove to be innovative.

Jim attended Sooner High School in Bartlesville and The University of Oklahoma. As a native of Bartlesville Jim is dedicated to serving the community he was born and raised in. He has a passion for fundraising and supporting local organizations and charities. Stanton served as a board member for the Washington County American Red Cross, YMCA, and for the Run the Streets program and continues to seek opportunities to give back.

In his spare time, Jim loves watching sports and spending time with his family and golden retriever Sophie Stanton.

Glenna Reid

Glenna Reid has made her home with husband, Mark, in Bartlesville since 1988.  She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in 1990 and has been with Career Employment Service since 2014.  Starting as an administrative assistant, she quickly realized that she enjoys meeting people and learning the preferences and details that they share during the application process.  It soon became natural for her to assist with job placements, leading up to her current role as Human Resources Administrator.

Glenna is sometimes referred to as the “hub” of Career, engaging candidates from their initial application through onboarding after hire.  Her philosophy is that, although she may not be able to help everyone find a job, she can treat everyone with dignity and respect.

Hobbies and interests include staying active in her home church of Tuxedo Assembly of God, singing, crafting, and staying connected to her two lovely daughters and their families.

Angie Black

Angie Black has made her home in Bartlesville since 1989, where she earned her accounting degree from Rogers State University. She later married Roy Black, and they shared life with five children and their families, including fifteen grandchildren.

Over the years, Angie has gained extensive experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll. When she came to Career in 2017, she quickly learned to manage the complexities of employment agency office management with ease.

Although Angie’s husband, Roy, passed away in 2021, their children and grandchildren are still the center of her life, and her spare time often revolves around their activities, family trips, birthday parties, Newsboys concerts, and plenty of cooking. She is an active member of Spirit Church.
